Navy Week program sets sail for Miami

The U.S. Navy is preparing to bring a Navy Week to Miami during the week of Jan. 23-29, as the first Navy Week of the calendar year. Miami Navy Week will give the community an opportunity to learn about the Navy, its Sailors and its importance to national security and prosperity. Red Cross Helps 5 People Affected by a Home Fire in Hialeah

Last night, local American Red Cross volunteer members of the Disaster Action Team, from the Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter, responded a home fire on NW 187th Street, in Hialeah, Fla. The disaster-trained team helped coordinate emergency aid to five (5) people impacted by the blaze, including two (2) children. The Red Cross is providing emergency financial assistance, health and mental health services, one-on-one support to connect people to available recovery assistance and will continue to provide additional support to the family to meet their disaster-caused needs... Miami Dade College’s Miami Fashion Institute on Saturday, Dec. 3 chose the winners of its sixth annual Upcycle Challenge, a competition where students from fifth to 12th grade were tasked with creating outerwear garments using upcycled denim. This competition was created in the spirit of making sustainable fashion and encourages participants to use their creativity to transform unwanted or waste material into a quality product with artistic and commercial value.
